I think that it might take that. I swear every bloody game I go to I hear a ref "HEY KID WITH THE RENTAL! PUT YOUR F**** MASK DOWN" than 5 minutes later they take their mask off immediate after getting hit...even before calling themselves out and walking off without putting their barrel sock on...I've seen far to many stupid kids get shot in the eye. Hell they laughed at me last week when my mask got knocked off and I did some ninja drop panther crawl over to my mask. I can't count how many times the pudgy kid with the rental called me a word relating to a cat and a womans special area that cannot be said obviously on this forum...

Lovely world we live in eh? I guess it than comes down to the individual owner to keep their selves in check. I'll do my best to remind the newer players to keep their goddamn mask on and stop taking off their damn barrel sock...

No kidding, most of the time the parents are just as bad or naive. Which proves the age limit futile. Atleast it gives the kids time to mature before being idiots unlike their parents who are stupid because they're stupid. Guess it's one of those no win situations. I'd still rather see 4000 pissed off kids under 18 than 1 dead kid

You have posed a question to which there is no "clean" answer. Arguments can be made for both sides but I feel that if a person calls the tune, the best be ready to pay the band. If they are to young "to know better", I ask "where are the parents?"

Fair enough I can relate to that, but at the very least should the laws regarding firearms and replica not be stated to the people buying the markers. My worry is not so much kids going out and shooting other people with them, it happens, last halloween I had a drunk guy take a PMR and shoot my up half a dozen times. It happens but not often, what i'm concerned about is people not realizing that from a distance and even up close these can easily be mistaken for real firearms...the ones used to kill other people...generally I see kids walking around all the time with airsoft and paintball and even those crappy plastic guns you get at walmart. Cops will not think twice about shooting anyone believed to be in possesion of a firearm. thats that...hell have a rifle case come with the marker I don't care.

I'd have to side with Southpark. I feel strongly about gun safety and the 'public good" as much as the next guy. I feel stronger about individual responsibilty. I do not feel most of us need or want Government legislating anymore "common sense" for the 'greater good'. If we, as players, cannot think for ourselves, apply common sense, then we cease to be free men and become merely the possesions of an 'elite". Would we outlaw a baseball bat? dollars to donuts more 'average joes" have been assaulted with one of those more often than a marker.

Fair enough, I feel very strongly on the subject of firearms safety which leads to quite a strong handed opinion on what should be done. I don't think i'm right in doing it, it's not fair but it's safe...and in the end fair doesn't mean anything when a cop shoots a guy dead because of "target practice.
What do you think would be appropriate. This comment is in no way mean't to be snarky or sarcastic...I want to know you opinion.

I agree completely with you, I honestly don't agree that people should have markers before they are 18. they should be treated like real firearms. (I'm 17 for the record, myself included should not have one, for the rules apply to everyone) Parents treat it like video games and buy realistic looking guns for their children to play with, not only can these "guns" get the holder shot but they can also cause great damage to other people and property. Lets face it, a 13 year old isn't really smart enough to think through shooting paint at peoples cars...not that the older community is any smarter. It's almost to the point where we're going to need firearms licenses to get paintball markers.
For the record, firearms safety is something I hold dear to my heart and make a point of it to educate other on how they should act whilst holding dus firearm...whether it shoots paint or lead it can still hurt someone

The unfortunate fact of the matter is that milsim markers are becoming more and more realistic. As this does make the game more fun and realistic it also adds to the responsibility. With less and less guns using hoppers and switching to mags as well as in tank stocks and full metal shrouds and bodies. The markers...are now guns. The fact that paint is getting smaller and smaller is an ever so real fact as well. Soon the .689 will be extinct and everyone will be running around with .43/50 caliber markers, which unfortunatly are firearm calibers. Its time to exercise our responsibility as milsim players. Responsibility is key and I do not believe that many of the newer/younger players have the responsibility

thats why i have a speedball gun you can easily tell it is fake because on eit is blue and black two it does not even resemble a real gun and three if i am practicing with it it has a large hopper on it

I thought that was very clear what I meant. And if it wasn't they should think logically.

I have never been aware of a by law that restricts the firing of compressed air rifles within city limits. Perhaps they exist on the books but have never been enforced to my knowledge, I have a paintball range in my backyard and prior to getting into paintball I had a series of replica handguns that fired pellets and I regularly shot targets in my yard with them.
What this underlines is the personal responsibility of the gun owner.
When I was doing a review for the Tactmark TM4 (Now Milsig) in my backyard I knew that it being a replica-esque marker it was only responsible for me to go and talk to my neighbors who may see me firing the marker to advise them that it was a paintball gun and not a firearm and that while it looked realistic it was not actually a firearm.
My neighbors are aware of my firing paintball guns in my backyard during the daytime and sometimes during the nightime.
Responsibly discharging your marker or air gun in your backyard absolutely includes both advising your neighbors as well as limiting the amount of noise.
I do not allow anyone using my range or even dry firing in my back yard to constantly ramp away at speeds in excess of 15 balls per second. Short bursting is OK here and there but I would never let anyone spew a full hopper. Regardless of whether or not it sounds like an assault rifle it just creates too much noise for a residential neighborhood.
So while I cannot comment on the actual bylaws as I have never heard of them nor been advised of them or persecuted I am of the understanding that depending on your particular municipality's bylaws by and large you may discharge an airgun on your property in a safe manner. Check with your local municipality to find out what bylaws apply to you.
What I must say is that responsible gun ownership starts with the owner. Waving around a replica firearm whether its an airsoft rifle, paintball gun, or even if it doesnt fire anything at all is totally irresponsible. In fact, actual replica firearms are totally prohibited in Canada which is the reason for the ban on most airsoft rifles in the first place. Paintball markers due to their large bore size and off scale components and hopper often escape the replica definition on paper, but may not pass the "i saw a guy shooting a machine gun" test to the uneducated observer.
If you are waving around a realistic looking gun of any kind where anyone will see you it is absolutely your responsibility to inform anyone who may see you of what you are doing in person or at the very least, with some reasonable signage.
This isnt just about having your marker/airgun taken away. Its about preventing yourself from getting shot with live ammunition by police who are only trying to protect themselves and the public. Irresponsibility could leave you dead.

Oh boy. Police out in that province must be bloodhounds out that way. Oh well they are only doing their jobs but come on everyone. Lets pull together and start educating anyone in our sport how serious this is. It's our responsibility to keeping the sport we all love. As for common sense..hmm well guess other peoples common sense is not really everyone else's responsibilty now I think bout it. Again glad it didn't turn out worse than it could of but come on man. It has to be something in the air.

Once again some moron has decided to fire a replica gun in his back yard. In this instance it appears to be an Airsoft replica. As we all know this could have easily been a paintball marker that somebody couldnt wait to try out a field. More instances like this will only ensure that we will all have to run around playing with speedball guns. Mil-Sim guns will be banned if we continue to do this (Airsoft and Mil-sim Paintballers alike).
Just a note. Most municipalitys in the Lower Mainland have a by-law which strictly prohibits the discharge of any firearm or compressed air guns.
I fully support the police officers and their actions. I hope this guy never gets his gun back because he is obviously not smart enough to keep it safe.
Just some thoughts sorry for the rant. I just get tired of one or two F-ups that make everyone else look bad.
