If it is brand new, and you have a freshly filled co2 tank...you might have to shoot off a hopper of paint sometimes co2 will shoot hot, maybe try shooting quickly 20 balls then chrono. Also double check your manual to make sure your adjusting the velocity screw in the correct direction to lower the setting...
My money is still on changing the spring to a lighter one.

My local shop recommended a new valve, put one in, seemed to solve the problem.

Your erratic velocity may be caused by improper sizing of the paint and barrel, a worn out main spring, or loss of pressure.
If the gun shoots down (velocity drops off when shooting quickly), try it without the remote or if you have to use the remote, turn it on all of the way and then back a quarter turn. |

I have the velocity screw turned all the way back, so I don't see it at all when looking into the power tube. I am seeing velocities of around 230 - 270, with most shots closer to the 230 fps end. Is this normal? I am using 3000 psi 47 in^2 HPA, Crossfire reg, on a remote line. The front and rear bolt o-rings look OK, but I have replaced them anyway. Haven't chrono'd with the new o-rings yet. I also polished the internals of the reciever halves, as well as the bolt, but I don't really expect that to have much of an effect. What kind of velocity should I expect with the velocity adjustment all the way up?
