It was a beautiful Saturday morning as we pulled in to Weekend Warriors Paintball Field. I looked over at Haldrid and said "Its gonna be a great day for paintball". We had showed up earlier than needed so we caught up with friends that we hadn't seen since last years paintball season. Finally game time rolls around and we got game #1 started.
Mission #1 - Quite simple actually shoot the enemy as well as find the five targets of the opposing teams and shoot them as well. This game turned into a urban brawl pretty quick since toon town was smack in the middle of the play field. With 10 min. respawn times our side (orange) held off the enemy (green) for the first 20 minutes easily. I ended up taking a walk through the bush all the way around the enemy lines running into surprising and eliminating the only green who was of a like mind to make life easy on him self. After that encounter I headed back in towards the battlefield to flank the enemy position. I popped up to find four greens with their attention towards the fire fight and not paying attention to their flank. I just start laying into these guys shooting high over the first enemies head but hitting his buddy behind him, close guy drops to the dirt putting himself out of my field of fire so I turn on the other two guys, luckily taking both of them out. I creep up to the fence to see if I can pop up to take out the last guy but sadly he was waiting for that. As I pop up all I hear is his gun going pop pop and I'm out. Suddenly there was a massive green push right through the middle of town wiping out the majority of orange team. Sadly all we could do is sit at the spawn point and watch while green team wandered (literally) around and shot up our targets. With only 5 minutes left in the game a massive orange group spawns but it was to little to late. We pushed them back to the pole fort but sadly the the mission ended.
Mission #2 - A simple multiple King of the Hill style game... or so we thought turned out this would be the maker of one of the most vulnerable feeling 12 minutes in my life. By this time 2/1/4's two newest squad members had shown up and gotten all geared up ready and raring to go. The captains picked our spawn points and we ended up spawning at the pole fort, which was a good thing as 3 of the 4 hills were closer to us than to the enemy team (captains did not know hill locations till after spawns were picked.) The start horn blew off went our 3 scouts trying to secure at least 2 out of the 4 hills and succeeding in actually capturing 3 of them right off the bat. Second horn goes and the Spectres head of for the farthest right "hill" as that we felt was the point to be over run the quickest. For the first 10 minutes it was madness, paint flying every where but not hitting our squad, as we got to the building that was the hill spectre5 jumped inside the building as TR Haldrid and I pushed up one building farther on the right and left respectively to protect the flanks of the building as well as provide support as the other people from the orange team advanced in through the town to try to take the only building/hill that was close to the enemy spawn. After taking out 2 enemies, one at the hill we were trying to move on and one at the small airplane carcass I finally get taken out with a glancing blow to the side of the head. On the way back to the spawn point I find out Haldrid had also been taken out but that spectre5 and bugontherun were both still holding onto their building. After spawning Haldrid and I hooked back up and make the decision to make a trek through the woods and see what we can do about the single most difficult "hill" there was to capture. Essentially it was a container that looked like a home made gas tank that would have been used in a NASCAR pit stop for refueling cars quickly only a tad bit larger tank and it was just laying out in the open in amongst the mole hills. No real coverage at all. After finally clearing out the green presence with alot of help from a few other orange squad mates we got up to the can. Haldrid even though he had a Tac Cap on had the superior BPS for covering fire so I ran to the can and laid down with it between me and the enemies postion and began to pray. It is rather nerve wracking laying in the wide open with the majority of your body being covered by nothing leaving your fate up to others and not being able to really contribute to your defence as my postion made it difficult to hold a gun and touch the tank at the same time. Finally after 12 minutes which spanned to point check times (I asked the ref afterwards) I hear greens approaching and talking about who they think is where. From the sounds of their discussion they did not know I was there but as the crested the small little rise there I was a literal laying target one shot and I was out. After respawning and treking back through the woods once more to help try and remove the green presence from the can hill for the last time the game ends. After finally hooking abck up with spectre5 and bugontherun I find out they held their postion for the entire 60 minutes with apparently very little action after Haldrid and I got taken out. It was also revealed that the one scout on our team who played solely with dual pistols also held her hill for the entire 60 minutes as well. Green held the two story building hill for 3 of the 6 check ins and orange held it for 2. The can was held equally by the green and the orange at 2 check ins a piece.
